
No matter which edit forms you are working with, the first step is to learn some simple commands common to all forms. Shortcut keys allow you to move among the fields, and work within them.

| Tab | Moves focus to the next available field |
| Shift-Tab | Moves focus to the prior available field |
| Enter | Accepts the form and saves changes. Same as clicking on OK. |
| Esc | Aborts and closes the form. If you have made changes, you will get a dialog asking you to confirm that you want to Abandon Changes. Same as clicking on the close form button [x]. |
| F1 | Displays context-sensitive help about the form you are viewing. |

| Ctrl+C | Copy selected text to the clipboard. |
| Ctrl+X | Cut selected text to the clipboard. |
| Ctrl+V | Paste text on the clipboard to your form. |
| Ctrl+Z | Undo the last change. |
| Ctrl+A | Select all text in a field. |
| Ctrl+Delete | Delete to the end. |
| Double click | Select a single word. |
Note: You can also access many of these functions using a context popup menu. Right-click on a field to see any available shortcuts.
