Grids, Customizing

frmphysicianlistcustom.jpg

In addition to the customization available for all Basic Forms, Basic Grids give you a number of additional ways to customize your display.

Grid Column Width

If any column in the grid is too narrow/wide, you can change it by positioning the mouse pointer in the title area, on the Column Separator which is the line separating the current column from the next. In this position, the cursor will change to a caret cursor, which indicates you can click to resize the column. Click and move left/right to set the size of the column.

Column Position

Many grids have many more columns than can be displayed on a single form. If you find a column that you would like to see moved to the start/end of the column list, you can click on the Title button to “tear-off” a column Title Button. Then move the column left/right to it’s desired location.

Frozen Columns

Many grids have one or more columns which are “frozen” to the left of the grid. This allows you to scroll the grid left/right and see the columns change except frozen column(s) which are always visible. Frozen columns are normally ID numbers or other key fields which you normally need to see to identify the current record.

Tip: You can identify Frozen Columns by the thick dark vertical line surrounding them.

If you want to freeze another column, choose Navigate, Change Form Values, Freeze Columns and the left-most defrosted column in the grid will become frozen.

Tip: The left-most column may not be visible currently. Make sure you scroll to the extreme left before freezing a new column.

Tip: If for any reason you want to return the form to it’s default screen size, position and columns choose Navigate, Change Form, Clear Form Values.
