The description should have everything you need to know to identify the item. It should describe the item, starting with the most general word to the more specific. The first word should be a word that everyone uses to describe the item, i.e. Walker, Wheelchair, Concentrator, Strips, Brace, etc. Then it should get more specific as you enter more words, i.e. Walker Adult, Walker Child, Wheelchair Standard, Wheelchair Heavy Duty, Wheelchair Lightweight, Brace Elbow, Brace Knee, etc. It is very important to stay consistent when entering the description so that all similar items are together. This will help when you search for an item. I do not recommend entering descriptions to match vendor’s descriptions because it will be hard to find the item if you do not know the item id. For example, if you see the following when searching the item list:
Wheelchair Lightweight 16”
Wheelchair Lightweight 18”
Wheelchair Standard 16”
Wheelchair Standard 18”
Wheelchair Standard 18”
Wheelchair Standard 20”
It is easy to find all standard 18 inch wheelchairs. If I started everything with Invacare or Medline, then I would have to search every manufacturer to see what wheelchairs are in the item list.
